Between Beirut and Amman: Four Conferences You Must NOT Miss in December!

December is proving to be a very busy month for me, as well as social media enthusiasts and Arab intellectuals. Below are four conferences/forums/conventions

To kick December off, AUB's Online Collaborative will be hosting its first Blogging Lebanon convention on December 3 where Lebanese bloggers and Arab and International bloggers in Lebanon in the area will be joining to share their experience and give valuable insight about the blogging scene in the Arab World. Click here for the latest information about this event.

The Arab Thought Foundation is holding its annual conference "Fikr 9" which will take place this year in Beirut on December 8 & 9 with a special workshop for youth on December 7. This year's conference has the theme of "Building the Future." The conference will address the major issues facing the Arab World. During my meeting with the organizers last week, they have expressed their great enthusiasm about welcoming bloggers who are willing to cover the conference on their blogs. These bloggers will take a huge part of the conference by expressing their ideas and thoughts about the discussed issues, as well as participating in the live feed of the conference that will be broadcasted to the whole world. The foundation is looking for bloggers who write in both Arabic and English. They are also looking for educated young people from AUB (and other Lebanese universities) who would like to actively participate in the conference. I cannot stress enough how a great opportunity for us (the new Arab generation) this even is to trigger change in our countries and possibly the world. If you would like to participate either as a blogger or an attendee, please contact me at moudz.mindsoup@gmail.com and I will organize the necessary procedures with the organizers.

The First Arab Social Media Forum is taking place in Amman - Jordan on December 11. It will be the first of its kind in the region to target only Social Media topics and share both client’s and agencies experience dealing with Social Media platforms and different social engagement approaches/show cases. A group of bloggers and social media enthusiasts from Lebanon and AUB will be going to Jordan for the conference, so if you are interested in joining the group please contact me at moudz.mindsoup@gmail.com. As an ambassador and an official blogger for the event, I will be joining the forum too, so if you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Personally, I think that this is might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to a lot of you, so if are into social media and want to learn how to use it effectively, I would advise you to try your best to attend!

Google will be hosting its Google Days in December, in Egypt between December 8 and 10 and Jordan between December 12 and 14. The conference mainly targets computer science students, software developers, small businesses and tech entrepreneurs in Jordan and Egypt. gJordan will hosting the event in Amman and will be demonstrating Google's suite of products that are driving innovation in technology, business across the globe and here in the Middle East. Most of the Lebanese group who will be in Jordan that weekend will be attending the first day of the conference in Amman. To register for gJordan, check the website.
